Namjoon
*Four days later*
Alina and I walk through the woods, enjoying the view and silence. It’s definitely different from the house with all its chaos and noise. Then again, I would not change that for the world.
I live for the sound of Jin cooking in the kitchen; the sound of pots and pans and cutlery clinging together. I love it when Yoongi plays his piano, even when it is late at night or when Jimin and Hoseok blast the music on full volume to dance. I love it when I hear Taehyung’s camera shuttering with each photo he takes or the sound coming from the TV when Jungkook is playing video games. I love it when I hear Alina humming or singing as does her work. I love the sounds of the different laughter of each one – Jin and Hoseok’s loud laughter or Yoongi’s quiet chuckle – Tae’s silent and breath heaving laugh and Jimin’s giggle or Jungkook’s thigh slapping laugh or Alina’s sweet giggles.
I looked at Alina who seemed to be lost in her own world too. ‘It’s so beautiful here Joonie. I can never get enough of it,’ Alina said as she looked around, a big, warm smile on her face.
I smiled, happy to see her so happy. The past few days everyone has been worried and on edge. We were all wondering whether it was over or if there was more to come. Vampires could be very patient when it came to exacting their revenge. We had to be careful.
‘Joon? Is everything okay?’ she asked, stopping. I nodded as we stopped and she took my hands in hers. ‘Are you sure? I may not be bonded with you yet, but I can still tell when you’re not okay,’ she mumbled.
‘I’m okay Alina, I’m just… well I have a lot of thoughts running in my head,’ I said as she nodded. She knew exactly what I was talking about.
‘It will be okay. Let’s keep walking,’ she said as she started to lead me after her. I almost stumbled and I heard her giggle, causing me to smile and let go of my worries. She led me towards the lake which was absolutely stunning. ‘Swim with me,’ she said as I nodded.
The two of us started to undress until we both were naked. We left our clothes in a pile, near a big tree. I heard Alina giggle as she grabbed my hand and pulled me with her into the water. ‘Ahh it’s freezing,’ she said while she giggled even more. I looked at her with one eyebrow raised and she rolled her eyes. ‘Before you say anything, yes, I know, for you it’s not but let me remind you that you’re a wolf and I’m not,’ she said with a pout.
I laughed as I reached for her. ‘Come here love,’ I said as she took my hand in hers. I pulled her into me. ‘I’ll warm you up. I can’t let my baby freeze now, can I?’ I asked. She shook her head cutely as I wrapped my arms around her and she put her head against my chest.
‘I love the sound of your heart Namjoon,’ she said. I smiled as I squeezed her tightly.
‘I love the sound of yours Alina,’ I said. We stayed like that for a while, enjoying the feel of the water and the sun’s warmth. It felt peaceful and blissful. ‘Do you want to swim a bit?’ I asked and she nodded.
I let go of her as she swam away from me. I watched her as she went out a little and raised her hand. Water started to lift up as she seemed to make it dance. Suddenly, I saw a horse made of water, splashing about while she giggled while I looked in awe – completely mesmerized by her.
‘Wow,’ I said, unable to help myself. She looked at me and sent the water horse next to me. It almost seemed to be alive as it ran around in me in circles before it dived back into the water.
‘I swear, I fall in love with you a little bit more every time you do something like that,’ I said to which she smiled.
‘It feels good to be able to share it with others. Before you came along, I was always alone. Sure, Solania visited me but I could rarely show her since it was too dangerous. I would go to the woods and just practice on my own. I would do something like this but then,’ she stopped as she sighed sadly and looked away.
I swam next to her, enclosing the distance between us. I grabbed her face and turned her to look at me. ‘It made you feel even more alone?’ I asked and she nodded.
‘I would turn around, expecting someone to see but there would be no one,’ she said. ‘Then you guys came along and I could be myself freely,’ she added.
‘Always. You can always be yourself with us,’ I said as she smiled. We kept looking at each other before she giggled and suddenly splashed me. ‘Yah!’ I yelled as she swam away. I chased after her but she just laughed and sent water my way. ‘Hey don’t cheat,’ I said but she just laughed once more.
We kept playing around for a good thirty minutes until we decided to go back on land. We dried off and started getting dressed again. ‘This was fun princess,’ I said while she nodded.
‘We should come here with the rest of the boys one of these days,’ she said and I smiled, liking the idea. She stopped as she looked at me and bit her bottom lip. ‘What? You like what you see?’ I asked, teasing her.
Her cheeks went red but she shrugged. ‘Can’t deny it,’ she said to which I just laughed. I grabbed my shirt to put it on when suddenly I picked up on a scent. I stopped as I smelled the air.
‘Is everything okay?’ Alina asked, her voice serious. My eyes went wide as I realized there were vampires near… and a lot of them.
‘Vampires,’ I said. ‘We need to go. There are a lot of them,’ I said. She gasped but nodded as she quickly put on her shirt while I jumped and transformed in the air.
Before we could even start running, I felt someone rush at me and slam me against the tree. ‘NAMJOON!’ I heard Alina scream as I suddenly felt arms pushing me into the ground. I looked up and saw four vampires holding me down as more approached Alina.
‘NO!’ I growled as I tried to push off the vampires off of me. I managed to push two off but more vampires appeared. I felt a knife stabbing me and I howled loudly.
‘No!! Stay away from him!’ Alina screamed as suddenly the vampires were all blasted against the trees. Her eyes were wild with fury as she raised her hands again, sending fireballs their way just as vampires were coming from behind her.
I jumped as I pushed her out of the way just as I felt two teeth digging into my arm. I howled as instantly I felt the burn. I fell to the ground as I quickly began to change back into my human form.
‘NAMJOON!’ I heard Alina scream as she ran towards me. Right above me was a vampire, holding a silver dagger, aimed right at my heart. ‘NO!’ She screamed as he suddenly flew against the tree. She crossed her arms and let it go as light seemed to flood the area, sending vampires slamming against the trees.
Alina skidded as she came close to me. She was scared, but not of the vampires but for me. Tears fell down her cheeks as she put my head on her lap. ‘It’s… it’s okay Alina,’ I said, but I knew that was a lie. A bite from a vampire was fatal to our kind.
‘You’re going… to—to be okay,’ she said as she put her hands on top of each other. Light emitted from her hands while I felt my skin and blood burn.
‘AHH!!’ I screamed, unable to help myself. She cried as she continued to focus.
‘I’m sorry Joonie, I’m so sorry. I need to take the venom out. It's the only way I can save you,’ she said as she sniffed. I nodded as I felt myself covered in sweat as my temperature continued to increase. It felt like my body was on fire. ‘I’m almost done Joonie,’ she said.
I nodded as I tried to keep strong for her. I knew she was scared and sad about it. I grunted as I tried to keep myself from screaming as the pain started to lessen. I looked at her as she seemed focus, even if she was crying and trembling. Finally, the light went away and she stopped. I looked at her as I saw her nose which was bleeding. She was swaying, almost as if she was unable to keep her balance. She looked exhausted and I frowned.
‘You’re tired,’ I said but she just smiled. I reached for her face as I tried to wipe away her blood. I felt exhausted myself as my eyes began to close.
'Hey stay with me. Joonie, I know you're exhausted but try to stay awake. Please love,' she said. I smiled as she held me tighter. Suddenly, I felt her being pulled away from me.
I opened my eyes as I heard her scream. ‘No…’ I mumbled as I saw a vampire grabbing her and running away with her while she screamed louder. Her hands were being held back, making her unable to use her powers. ‘NO!! ALINA!!’ I screamed as I tried to sit up but failed. I kept trying but my body felt weak while she kept getting away from my view. ‘No… Al—Alina,’ I said as darkness began to surround me.
‘NAMJOON!!’ I heard a familiar voice yelling as I closed my eyes.
